Project Summary: Innovative Solution for a Soda Ash Conveying System
TLY Energy continues to provide innovative solutions to challenges encountered in industrial facilities. Our latest project aimed to provide a permanent solution to a leakage problem in a pipeline conveying powdered soda ash to silos. As part of the project, the existing control valves—which had begun to leak due to the gradual accumulation of powdered soda ash—were replaced with technologically advanced new products.
Project Objective
The primary objective of the project was to eliminate leakage problems occurring in the control valves of the soda ash conveying system. These problems arose when soda ash gradually accumulated and formed hardened deposits inside the valve body and on the sealing surfaces, preventing the valve from closing completely.
Project Scope
To solve this problem, three WEY-branded knife gate control valves were supplied. The valves were specially selected according to the customer’s process requirements.
Technology and Solution Used
WEY-branded knife gate control valves feature a self-cleaning function during every opening and closing cycle. This feature largely prevents powder particles from accumulating and forming hardened deposits between the valve body and the blade. Thanks to the knife-gate design, the valve scrapes away accumulated material during each opening and closing movement, reducing contamination.
This innovative approach helps the valve provide 100% opening in the fully open position and 0% opening in the fully closed position. As a result, system efficiency increases, while leakage and unnecessary downtime caused by maintenance are reduced.
Result
This TLY Energy project provided an effective and innovative solution to leakage problems in soda ash conveying systems, improving operational efficiency and significantly reducing maintenance costs. The WEY-branded knife gate control valves used in the project delivered a lasting solution to a common industrial challenge through their self-cleaning capability.
